Scuba Diving Equipment – Choosing the Scuba Diving Equipment That’s Best For You
by ron on June 21, 2010
There's so much scuba diving equipment on the market it's hard to know what to choose, with a variety of BCD's, fins masks and dive computers to suit almost every dive condition and budget it can be difficult to know what equipment to go for. It's important to choose the equipment that is right for you so consider your dive environments.
If you dive mainly in cold water conditions you should choose the gear that is most suited, likewise if you will be diving in hot climates again its important to choose the right gear. The obvious difference between the two would be your wet suit, if you're diving in cold conditions you will need a thicker wet suit or a dry suit whereas if diving hotter climates you can get away with wearing a thinner suit. As well as the differences in wet suits there are also a number of other considerations that need to be made dependent on your dive conditions, for example you'll need to consider your dive computer, fins and BCD to ensure they can withstand your dives.
At the end of the day your diving equipment is your under water life line so it's very important to get it right. Many novice divers simply opt for the cheapest gear on the market but this is generally a big mistake as your equipment is likely to be of a low standard and will probably need replacing after a year or two which will end up costing a lot more that if you'd forked out a little but more initially and investing in something that would last.
